We spent 2 years opening our show with this song. Being started on and groped simultaneously in Toronto, completely freaking out Osaka, anytime people in Birmingham have joined in, and climbing around some beautiful but totally empty warehouse in Germany somewhere, are the highlights, but this version is for all the times it's fallen flat and we just look like idiots who don't know how gigs work.
We've turned a nice piano ballad into something that now physically hurts to perfom, our job here is done xo
lyrics
Walked out on the reeperbahn, as sober as photographs.
Got caught in a mexican wave, could probably be here for days
Sent long sighs over time zones to home towns lost
Said I'm feeling the distance, asleep in the restaurant
and colder than that, bought yr ex-lover back
Somewhere there's a party that yr not invited to.
I don't know when, but I'll get there soon
So lets not kid ourselves into romance.
We knew this would end without fireworks or futures
Just schedules refuted and forced into fact
and it's lights out where you're at
(It sounds just like running away)
Well I've tried to explain
(Get so scared you stumble and fade)
If that makes it easier to take
(Just wake up and walk out)
And I'm not coming back, I probably should have mentioned that.
Somewhere there's party that yr not invited to.
I don't know when but I'll get there soon.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god.
